Nestled in the Smoky Mountains sits the beautiful artsy town of Asheville, North Carolina. My friend and I took a little day trip this past Saturday to do some exploring and sight-seeing and I don’t think we could’ve picked a more beautiful day to go! The weather was mid-60’s and sunny and the most delicious breeze was blowing – the kind that fills your lungs with life and revitalizes your soul. It was the best I’ve felt in so long.
This amazing view is from the back porch of Omni Grove Park Inn. The hotel sits at the end of a winding road on top of a hill overlooking the valley and downtown Asheville.
We decided to park in the lot at the Grove Park Inn and walk down the hill three miles to downtown (which made for a rough walk back at the end of the day). I think any other day I would’ve complained but the walk was much needed and the sunshine and breeze was everything my soul needed.
The vibe of downtown Asheville is like nothing I’ve felt before. There is a type of electricity and character about the city that is hard to put into words, but I’ll try. Asheville, as a whole, is organic, colorful and alive – all at once. Walking down the street I felt so comfortable, the whole atmosphere fit my personality like a glove. Musicians perform on street corners and no large span of brick facade is left untouched from art and graffiti. It’s truly marvelous.
