i always try to stay on top of new home decor trends, especially when it comes to color. today’s color trend is brought to you by sherwin williams’s 2016 color of the year, sw 7008 alabaster white. neutrals are so big right now and alabaster white really offers a sense of solace against the commotion and overstimulation of everyday life.

according to jackie jordan, sherwin williams director of color marketing, “alabaster is neither stark nor overly warm, but rather an alluring white.” use the tone to create a sense of healing and rest in your home

while i do love a good neutral wall i think using an ivory based tone like alabaster needs the proper details and styling to avoid looking bland. jackie jordan suggests using “lots of layers, shapes and textures and a combination of matte and glossy surfaces. think heavy knitted throws, sleek white marble, white birch logs, shag or flokati rugs, white subway tiles, architectural elements, geometric or organic pottery shapes”
what do you think of sherwins color of the year? do you love a light palette or wish it were bolder?
