greetings from sunny florida! that’s right, i’m blogging during vacation but i was too excited about this diy not to share, especially since it’s so perfect for the beach.
when prepping for this much needed vacation – and i mean much needed – i was doing some shopping and came across this sequin embroidered hat by eugenia kim. maybe you’ve seen them around? suuuuuuper cute, right? i’ve even seen my girl kelly from studiodiy rocking it. the price, however, is not super cute so i thought i’d attempt to make my own version and i have to say i’m preeety in love with it. and the best part?! it was easy and cost only a teeniest fraction of the cost of the designer hat. diy success!

i love all of the witty and beachy sayings on the hat and i was so excited to make my own version
here’s what you need:
- sunhat, i got mine from here
- sequin strand from most craft stores
- hot glue guns
- sewing pins, optional but recommended!
total cost: under $30
when i started laying out the sequin strand i was having trouble getting things to stay in place. my sister suggested using sewing pins to help layout the letters and it was so helpful and i highly suggest it
once the pins were in place i used the hot glue gun to adhere the sequin strand down. i would suggest doing a little at a time and securing the points of the letters first and fill them in with glue.
sunny skies for daysss! i mean look at that sunburn! but at least my hat is styling 😉 what do you think of this diy? could this hat be a new summertime staple?
