for next installment in my holiday tree trim series i present my personal favorite, diy decor! there have been too many times i find myself walking through a store looking at ornaments thinking ‘i can make that!’ and sometimes i do just that.
my tree right now is a balanced mixture of store bought, vintage and some i made myself. i always have the most enjoyment making my own plus they make great gifts and if someone asks it’s so fun to say ‘ yeah, i made that.’ my parents tree is filled almost entirely with homemade ornaments from my sisters and i growing up. it’s slightly embarrassing but also really sweet. we always talk about our memories and the stories behind each one. it’s a great christmas tradition.
check out the whole diy here but these paper mache fruit-themed ornaments would be such a fun bright touch to your holiday tree! i feel like these would be a great craft to do with kids

i love the mercury glass look and the combined planter makes it extra cute! if i wasn’t so afraid that i would kill the airplane (it’s happened before, people) then i would jump right on this.
a french fry christmas tree?! this is something straight out of my dream journal. leave it up to kelly to execute something so fun! check out her blog for the how-to.
how cute are these? seriously. and they’re crazy easy to make. it’s a great way to add some whimsy to your tree.
these geometric ornaments would make a great addition to a minimalist inspired tree. and what’s great about these is that they can act has decor long after the holiday season ends so there is no packing these away until next year!

if you haven’t heard of purl soho, a sewing and knit store based out of nyc, i highly recommend you check it out. obsession is an understatement. they stock quality yarns and supplies as well as tons and tons of great inspiration and patterns. i’ve used their yarn for countless projects and when i saw this pattern for these diy wool felt beaded ornaments i stopped dead in my tracks. i must make these. and i have. they are a great addition to my tree and i’ve loved them so much i’ve decided to make a few more for gift toppers! check out their website for more details and to purchase supplies. believe me, you’ll be happy you did!
hope you found some of these inspiring, which one is your favorite?
