pantone’s 2017 color of the year: greenery

(source unknown)

hello, friends! happy new year! i think like a lot of people i’m getting swept up by the winds of change. i joke about it ironically that it’s a new year, new me but truthfully i love the symbolism of turning the page of last year for something new and unknown. last year i wanted to be about the year of growth and i think that in many ways it was. this year i want to be the year of change. i want to adopt new habits (healthier ones, obviously) and i’m feeling the need to change something, new career? new location? i don’t know yet…but something is gonna happen this year!

i wanted to kick off the blog with a trend piece, something i haven’t done in a while. later last year, in the mix of all of the holiday swirl, pantone announced their 2017 color of the year, did you hear? it’s greenery! and i have to say i am a much bigger fan than i was of the pastels rose quartz and serenity. according to leatrice eiseman, the executive director of the pantone color institute, ‘greenery…provides us with the reassurance we year for amid a tumultuous social and political environment. satisfying our growing urge to rejuvenate and revitalize, greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.”

could that be any more perfect right now? greenery is symbolic of new beginnings and i think a lot of people, me included, really need that right now. this fresh and zesty yellow-green color is very versatile. add to a neutral palette for a splash of color or pair with other brights, deeper shades, pastels, or metallics.
