heeyy friends, i’m so loving these warm temps were experiencing here in southwest ohio. it’s making me itch even more for greenery and longer bouts of sunshine. i thought it might be perfectly timed to bring up a new interior trend that’s been popping up more and more. i’m talking about botanicals: luscious, large-scale florals that are turning every corner of your home into a greenhouse.

florals having been coming back for quite some time now with large scale and watercolor styled patterns at the forefront. but lately i’ve been seeing a different kind of style of florals, one i’ll call ‘classical botany.’ it reminds me of engraved prints that could be found in early twentieth century books or something like that. bold colors have modernized them quite a bit while the style of the florals themselves offers something quite timeless.

i just love how these florals create so much drama (the good kind) and can really amp up the glam and femininity of a space. while it might be a lot for some people – looking at myself here – to do a whole room i think using it on an accent wall or as furniture upholstery or accent piece can still provide that splash of interest. layering in a complementary color scheme and coordinating textures can also help tie a room together nicely.

i love how the bedspread colors tie in with the floral wallpaper. the neutral headboard and side table give some breathing room to let the patterns and textures stand out without feeling too crazy, via domino
